Stickman! Stickman! Beware of the...
Yesterday we took Clark to Leicester Square Theatre, London, to see the utterly brilliant Stickman Live!
Stickman has been a firm favourite in this household since Christmas last year when the family gathered round to watch the animated film, so when I received an email announcing the tour I had to book tickets.
I hadn't researched into Scamp Theatre's production of Stickman Live, so I went into the theatre with somewhat of an open mind - but it completely surpassed any expectations which I had, with its originality and the way it captivated the whole audience.
Throughout the hour show Clark was mesmerised from start to finish, and for a 2 year old to stay engaged for that length of time speaks for itself.
The show obviously follows Julia Donaldson's & Axel Scheffler's book of Stickman, his Stick Lady Love and their children 3..See what I did there 😉
Poor ol' Stickman finds himself in a range of stick-y (OK, I'll stop!) situations and farther and farther away from the family tree, does he find his way home? You'll have to watch and see...!
There are three members of Scamp Theatre who act the story out in its entirety, and their energy shines through which is why it's such a hit with the audience. That, and the fact they have some of the most creative props, wide range of instruments, catchy songs and also a bit of audience participation, so it's easy to say the whole family will enjoy it.. Ours did!
I'd definitely recommend the show to families with young children 2.5yrs +, it was worth the 2 hour train journey due to disruptions! Clark's already asking to go again too!
Stickman Live is at Leicester Square Theatre until 30th December.
