So last week you may have read that I’ve decided to start focussing on me a little more (click here to read), as in order to be the best mum and wife I can be, I need 5 minutes here and there to focus on just me.
I’m pleased to report that the majority of my 5 little things I set last week I achieved – Big high five, right!
Here’s what I managed to do:
In bed by 9:30pm and once in bed NO phone!
Ok, so I didn’t stick to the 9:30pm every day, as there were two evenings where my boys decided bedtime was party time which meant by the time they were finally asleep, I did the whole ‘Do I go to bed early and rest, or spend my evening catching up on TV and moan about being tired tomorrow?’. The latter won, and the mornings after the late nights, I was shattered, but the mornings after the early night were glorious! The late nights did mean I caught up on the Flash and Arrow, plus Hubby and I enjoyed a game of The Logo Game.
Swings and roundabouts!
Get hair done
Yes! I am now sporting a very short bob, which my little sister took the mick out of, and blondeblonde hair, which I love. It’s so much more manageable now it’s shorter and quicker to blow dry in the mornings.
Big tick! I’ve managed breakfast every morning, and one morning I treated myself to a hot cross bun.. check me out!
Have a bath
This sounds like I don’t clean, but I do have a shower each morning! And I did enjoy THREE baths this week. Two were completely childfree, and the other was the usual cramped, water everywhere fiasco of bathing with two toddlers.
And here’s where I failed slightly:
Drink 2 litres of water a day
I couldn’t do this! I used to have a very trusty Hydratm8 bottle which I would refill throughout the day but it recently broke, and for some reason I don’t have ‘time’ to keep filling up a glass of water. Actually, it’s not so much I don’t have the time more that I don’t remember!
I’m so pleased I’ve started this though, as actually writing it down means I attempt to remember and stick to it!
Here are my 5 things for this week!
Fingers crossed I can achieve the above, but with my anniversary, a day out to Thomas and Clark’s 3rd birthday, I think I may have to take the back seat..BUT I will try to remember me!
So if you’re feeling a little run down, remember to take some time out for YOU! Looking for a bit of inspo?..look no further here’s what some other blogging mummies have been up to!
What one thing did you do for yourself this week?
“I went out with old work friends yesterday lunchtime, had a few wines and some pizza and totally allowed myself to be me rather than a mummy for once - was amazing!” - Emma at Even Angels Fall
“I had a bath. Not big deal to some but first one in about four years (didn't have bath in old house). It was nice to lie in there, reading a book with a cup of tea and I could hear the kids outside wanting to come in to talk to me but my partner wouldn't let them! Ok, after being in there for half an hour I ended up having the 2 year old in with me but it was lovely!” - Rachel at Coffee Cake Kids
“I went clothes shopping alone as I needed a dress for a friend's wedding and an interview outfit. I took my time, even stopped to get my brows and nails done and to have a beer in Brewdog before I caught the bus home! Was bliss 😊 oh and for literally the first time ever I spent all my money on myself and didn't buy a thing for anyone else!”- Alex at Better Together Home
“I sat and ate lunch. My little man was whinging but I'm not my best if im hungry.” – Kristine at Max and Kai
“I read my book during nap time. I love reading but always end up thinking my time is better spent doing chores/eating while Spike naps. This time I decided I didn't want to do stuff for everyone else ” – Raimy at Readaraptor Hatchling
“I try to do a Pilates class once a week - I have it in my diary as a meeting so try not to let work clash with it (I work freelance) it relaxes me and makes me feel healthier ” – Debbie at My Boys Club
